MARTELL, Amador County — Amador County has updated a major land-use planning package for the 201-acre Wicklow Way site in the Martell Regional Service Center, just west of Jackson.
The county’s official planning project page includes a final Environmental Impact Report, an updated August 2026 reduced-development alternative and recommended CEQA findings. It also identifies the Planning Commission’s August 11 meeting and archives public comments from agencies and residents.
What would the plan address?
The specific plan provides a framework for possible future land uses, circulation, utilities and environmental protections. Earlier versions considered housing, commercial activity, civic facilities and parks. The 2026 reduced-development alternative is important: readers should not assume numbers from the earlier draft are the final approved development program.
Why final decisions matter
An environmental impact report evaluates impacts and possible mitigation; it is not itself a building permit. A specific plan can be adopted separately from the approval of individual future construction projects. Residents need to distinguish the final environmental review, any adopted board action and later entitlement or subdivision applications.
For the exact legal status, ask the County Planning Department for the signed September 2026 board resolutions and any later amendments. Public records may be accessed through the county agendas and Planning Department.
